She just was a few hours older than him. He had to admit that she did have a good claim. But a Mage could not inherit by Orlesian Law. Though what was the Higher Law? Alaric knew he could have to go to war for the rights of the state against the Chantry. Alaric was all a man his age and posistion should be. Princely, Even Kingly. He was a career military man but also has spent tie all over thedas as a diplomat for his father.

Alaric was among the best duelists and had fought on behalf of his father in his ailing years but now he had to make alliances and become an Ruler. The Right one. He had no ill will against his sister. She was his sister after all but if the Templars used her as a puppet to rule they would be mistaken that Alaric would stand for it.

"Allow me to present, The Rightful ruler of Orlais, The Son and non-mage son of the late Duke Gaspard De Chalons. Prince Alaric of the Royal House De Chalons." Alaric rode forward and nodded to the lady and smiled. "Princess Kimberly, A Pleasure." He spoke offering to kiss her hand.
